She won her election with 267.7k votes, while her opponent didn't crack 100k in a heavily Dem district that Keith Ellison previously served. Thus I don't think she'll lose her district and she'll easily become re-elected. Some constituents don't care about a leader's ethics - indeed, Marion Barry got reelected!!

A bigger question is relative strength, in which Rep Omar loses hands-down.

There was a story yesterday about Rep Omar's arrival at the airport in MN. FReepers discerned from photos that the crowd size was about eighty, with about 70 actual supporters.

This event represents a 0.03% turnout rate (assuming the seventy were in the 267.7k that voted for her).

If Trump achieved that "turnout rate" at rallies etc nationally, then a national total of 16,473 people would turn out for his rallies. In reality, Trump gets more than that at each of his rallies. While an airport arrival isn't the same as a rally, Rep Omar's turnout was relatively pathetic.

Thus, Trump garners a better turnout rate nationally than Rep Omar does in her own district. Therefore, in a relative basis, Trump remains more popular than she does.

And Trump doesn't turn his back to his supporters and speak to the press like she did at the airport.

The previous Congressman from her district was Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to the U.S. Congress.

Minnesota loved Ellison so much they elected him state Attorney General, in spite of two domestic violence allegations by previous girlfriends, and his prior employment by Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam, and attending a 2013 dinner with Farrakhan and the president of Iran.
