“People are Fn idiots with texting and drinking.”
And then you have the other idiots in the cars.

I go off on texting drivers and assume these car driving idiots do not even know Im there. Most people shouldnt even have a driver license - especially the people that cant read or write English.

It is often so difficult to see motorcycles on the road. Particularly at an intersection.
To: HangnJudge
I avoid city riding but we honestly need hunters to kill a lot more deer each year. I fear them leaping onto the road much more than cars.
To: blueyon
I respect the opinion of everyone on here who has expressed a fear of riding, or who have given it up. You're not wrong, it is more dangerous than driving. It is also far more fun and rewarding (to me anyway) than driving - my car, the pickup, other trucks, boats,...ok, jet skis and flying my buddy's experimental plane and pulling Gs comes close. Anyway, like so many things in life, it is a balance of risk vs reward, priorities, capabilities etc.
Personally, I stepped away from riding for a few years due to family/financial commitments and my northern location simply not having much of a riding season. Recently (a couple of years ago now) things changed and I became a "returning rider" and I love it. I did not realize how much I had missed it. Not to get too morbid but I have watched family and friends waste away in hospital beds. That is not what I want. If I go out on two wheels that is just fine with me. I will not give up riding again.

Agreed. Basically you have to ride like you are invisible to most drivers, and the ones that can see you don’t like you very much. Riding in traffic you have to be 100% focused on the traffic around you. Out of traffic - it is pure enjoyment...for me anyway, some of the most fun I can have with my clothes on.

I was told my life insurance specifically would not cover death while riding a cycle.

Benson had a DUI recently and a checkered past. I suspect this case has more to do with the rider than the bike. Regardless, RIP.

One is 34x as likely to die/per mile driven, than in a passenger car
And probably 100x as likely to be a paraplegic/quadriplegic or receive severe brain damage.

Two Tours as a Marine serving in Afghanistan didn’t kill our Nephew, but an inattentive Woman driving a Honda Accord did when she made a left turn in front of his Motorcycle when he was riding back to Work after Lunch.

Sprint ST here. Really sweet motor, regardless of the chassis: ST, RS or hooligan Speed Triple!
To: oldplayer
It’s still a handful. I love that triple. Tons of grunt, but sings up top.

I know that I'll be slammed by more than a few Freepers but I must say that: thanks to a long tenure in a big city ER I can confirm that in Emergency Medicine motorcycles *are* known as donorcycles. They are also known as "murdercycles"
That said, I ride every day I have time if the weather permits. For the other riders out there, Kentucky is the best state for riding roads. You can get anywhere on a bike without getting on interstate. Tow your bike here and give me a call.
