This is a modern English translation of the Lord’s Prayer as preserved in the Aramaic literature of the Syriac Orthodox Church, a descendant of the original Christian Church of Antioch.

The Syriac Church itself DOES NOT translate the Aramaic this way. See:
http://sor.cua.edu/Liturgy/Common/Abundbashmayo.html

So who made this modern translation?

Apparently it comes from the book, “Prayers of the Cosmos: Reflections on the Original Meaning of Jesus’s Words,” by Neil Douglas-Klotz (1990).

According to its back cover jacket (visible on Amazon), the book offers: “A Radical translation of the words of Jesus Christ that reveals a mystical, feminist, cosmic Christ.”

Now I don’t judge the modern book, as I believe Jesus invites us all to open our spiritual eyes and ears; and to me this implies the possibility of ongoing revelation with the aid of the Holy Spirit.

HOWEVER, I do push back on the Paul Serran attempt to use this as an effort to support the Pope’s changing the Lord’s Prayer. With all due respect for all Catholics, especially on this thread ... the Pope has exposed his socialist anti-American bias, and thus has crossed over into politics, hence fair game for criticism.

Speaking as a Catholic:

1) The Lord's Prayer was translated correctly as "and lead us not into temptation," per 2000 years of both Catholic- and Protestant-thoroughly-reseached translations (all of a sudden it's translated incorrectly after 2000 years? seriously?);
2) Francis is attempting to change the very words of Jesus Christ and cause confusion, which is evil;
3) I don't even want to be a fly on the wall when he tries to explain that kind of blasphemy to Christ when he dies;
4) Francis has to go. Q needs to hurry up and get rid of him before he does any more damage of any kind, especially if it's child sex abuse, but also his repeated heresy, financial b.s., and work to destroy the nuns (yes, Francis is trying to destroy the nuns, whose prayer is the backbone of the Church).

Great dig on The Lord’s Prayer.
I agree with you—Francis is too secular.

Oh, baby. The Catholics on this thread take no offense to any critic of this popester.

What is Key, to console the faithful Catholic, is that this popester is popeing on the fly, to the ignorant Catholic and to the apostate world, in a manner so Off-the-Record that nothing he says does even he dare to claim is “speaking” from the Chair of Peter.

That is because he and the faithful Catholic know that he can not. Why?

Because the instruction from any good and holy pope, when speaking from the Chair of Peter, is not only Announced far and wide, but his words will be approved and proven, by not any modern or current crop of political activist cardinales of the period, but rather shall be confirmed in and by the 2000 years of Christian history, of Sacred Scripture, of the Apostolic succession, of all of the previous Magisteriums of the Ages, and of All the previous Church Councils, and of the vast number of previous popes and saints.

Even Bergoglio can not master the destruction of history to dare speak from the Chair of Peter. He relies on ignorance, stupidity and the Enemy to pretend what he says should matter.

This is why from the beginning Bergie set out to declare instead, that he was simply addressing Church “PRACTIS”, simply messing with the “practices” of the Church, only to make it more “pastoral” and “MERCY FILLED”, where he could inflict true damage and confusion, and to further desecrate the Mass, etc.

He reveals who it is that he is counting on to accomplish this detour into the nefarious Practis— it is of course the compliant priests and bishops, who will go about approving or disapproving these changes.

The Traditional faithful who Know the protection of the Holy Spirit is over the Truth and over the Church know exactly why, in the course of 2000 years, no False Doctrine has occurred. The Church is protected, until the time of the False Prophet and the Anti-Christ.

This does not mean that Wolves can not parade as Shepherds, or that the Church will undergo no Chastisement, for it’s laxity and sin, particularly since Vatican II.

Too much information, I know. Just hoping it is a little helpful, for understanding otherwise alarming events.
