Right. Long been my thinking too. I think LEXAN is the clear plastic that is “bullet proof” etc. Have discovered there was a big concrete dome home in Fla that did survive a horrific hurricane. Don’t have a link handy.

LEXAN is a brand name for clear polycarbonate material. There are other brands. It is very tough and resistant to penetration, even "Bulletproof" if thick enough, but it degrades in sunlight. The portlights on my boat needed replacing after about 5 years.

Thanks for the info! Beats having to rebuild. Luckily I live in the Northwest where we don’t get hurricanes and just an occasional light tornado.

I'd be more worried about flying trees and cars hitting it.
