Fasting is a form of calorie reduction. When you reduce calorie intake you start surviving on your own visceral fat meaning it turns into a ketogenic diet.
You might as well go onto a ketogenic diet, and not skip meals.
Bible says fasting is a good thing, so maybe skipping a few meals isn’t so bad.
“Fasting is a form of calorie reduction.”
Yes and no. It’s goal is not to reduce calories but to reprogram your body to allow your hormone system to start working again - assuming you have screwed it up by eating too much too often for too long.
As I’ve done it, I find myself CHOOSING to eat less because I don’t crave food all the time. This in turn reduces calorie intake.
Intermittent fasting is different from keto, although many do both at the same time. I’ve eliminated most flour and sugar from my IF diet, but eat lots of vegetables and don’t have a problem is my meal includes a buttered potato. I don’t worry about carbs per se BECAUSE I eat one big meal a day, plus a snack 4-5 hours later.
IF has taught me an important truth: My body can handle going without food for 18-24 hours without a problem. Being a little hungry is very different from having cravings!
Fasting is not calorie-reduction, you still get your calories in. However when combined with the Keto diet, you simply are not hungry, and it’s easy to eat within your eating window.
I have trouble digesting fats so the fasting works better for me. I basically stopped eating after 3 pm except for bread/milk at bedtime with meds. No artificial sweeteners. No exercise because of a health condition. Lost 40 pounds in 2 years. Plus I get cortisone injections every 3-4 months for pain. Those are the difficult parts of staying disciplined. The cortisone suppresses the button in the brain that says ok, Im full.
