Spain has returned to the days of open hostility to the Church by government officials, Catalonian separatism, and Franco’s remains have been removed from the Valley of the Fallen. The only symbol left of pre-1931 Spain is the monarchy; there are no symbols left of the Francoist Spain of 1939-1975.

But Genet was not a US citizen with Constitutional citizen rights when he was committing his antics? And discontinued these after being granted asylum? Should he have long before been hung here or deported out to any country of his choice if he didn’t want to go to France for making war without authorization?

I would easily make the same case for the US; when you see soldiers streaming out of landing craft on D-Day, how many would recognize the freak show into which our country has morphed today?

When foreigners think of the US, they think of California and New York City. Though some Californians think of their state and it’s people as the 9th wonder of the world, they’re obviously mistaken. To US residents, California does not rule the roost.

Most foreigners have a dated view of America - especially in terms of opportunity. When net immigration with Western Europe leveled off (or reversed) a few decades ago, it had become clear that while this was still a step up for Thirdworlders, the US offered nothing to people from developed Western countries. Their home countries have many of the same ills as us (high taxes, growing populations of unassimilated primitives, socialized medicine - after ObamaCare passed), but if they were going to end up in the same place anyway, why not stay in a country of people who share your language & diet?

No, it will come from the same side. The Wilson group was not patriotic, it was rabid progressive authoritarian. They would feel quite at home in today’s Democrat party.
