Silvio Horta was found dead in a Miami motel room Tuesday.
Sources tell "Variety" he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Horta created the U.S. version of "Ugly Betty" from the original Columbia telenovela.
He got his big break writing the screenplay for the horror film "Urban Legend."

The peeps are really agog over this Columbia/Colombia thing (and btw shouldn’t that have been an adjective, as in Colombian soap opera?) but I don’t see why. I mean, it’s only the work of a professional writer.

I have to admit to a total lack of sympathy any time a sodomite offs himself.
Indeed, that “lifestyle” is so destructive that dying by violence or STD seems to be the only appropriate ending.
Back in the 70s and 80s when gays said they only wanted tolerance, I said “sure” for the simple reason that I thought them an insignificant sliver of the population. They didn’t seem to be a threat to anyone, no matter how abhorrent their sexual practices might seem.
I should have seen then that the “give them and inch and they’ll want a mile” principle would very much come into play. But I was young and a bit less cynical than I am at 62.

BTW, I thought they said as soon as “gaymarriage” was OK’d, this stuff would stop ? It hasn’t (because, yeah, mainstreaming mental illness as “normal” doesn’t change the fact that it’s STILL mental illness).

I always think that suicides are sad. They took God out of the picture and did themselves in.
