I love Trump but when he tweeted about attacking cultural sites this is the first image came to my mind. Everything so fat has been a smashing success but Trump made a minor unforced error.
You go...c’mon...give it to me. We shouldn’t attack Iran because (insert excuse here)! Orange man bad?...that didn’t work, because of culture, history or something? Because Valerie Jarret will start breaking more mirrors from a scowl. The list is endless. I want the excuses...c’mon man!

My first thought was the Mausoleum of Khomeini and the nuclear labs located beneath it...
IMHO, the jihadis are masters of placing their weapon dumps beneath hospitals, schools, orphanages, mosques and whatever else can serve as a “shield” for their cheating ways.
For some reason I doubt the ancients who built Persepolis respected the cultural sites of others. We know Islam respects no other culture currently. Numerous examples exist. The left is similar. I’m willing to respect a cultural site up to a point but not unconditionally.

Important to the Iranian culture is not archeological ruins. It seems to me that means political leaders, oil sites, etc.
This is just drama, people claiming he would try to bomb some remote ruins.
Especially when a lot of the Iraqi antiquities were looted during the second Gulf War. Not our fault, but one of the side-effects of the war.
He likely was referring to mosques...which are known to be arsenals.

Persepolis is not a cultural icon of theocratic Islamic Iran.
Frankly, I’m astounded cultural sites that predate the “revolution” survive at all.
DJT used the phrase “cultural sites” because the Iranians have declared some of their nuclear reactor and nuclear research sites “cultural sites” - it was a message to the mullahs that even those would disappear in the 30 minutes it would take to utterly destroy all tactical and strategic sites in Iran, including its navy.
He said they would be valid targets - never said he was targeting them.
It also pointed out how many terror groups have destroyed the cultural sites of so many others.
