My Dad as a child played hide the dime with his brother, and sisters. He hid it in his mouth. Well naturally someone slapped him on the back and he swallowed it. And this was Pre 1965 when dimes were still made of silver.

Modern pennies are made of mostly Zinc with a copper coating. I'm not sure you should be swallowing metallic Zinc.
