Well I have no faith in homemade masks and no avenue to the good stuff and also being a Radiation worker and hazmat trained for all air breathing systems, I’m not sure a mask helps but it can’t hurt. It’s like a rope around your sleeping bag when you’re sleeping on the ground. Will it stop a snake or spider? I doubt it. But the Duke said “It’s comforting”.

I've thought about getting my old paint respirator out and wearing that to the grocery store.
But I wouldn't want to give the other shoppers a mask-inferiority complex.

Mine is about 35 years old so it's not as fancy looking as that.

I’m not sure a mask helps but it can’t hurt.

It reduces the number of inhaled particles by about 70% according to a Japanese Scientists that actually tested various mask's ability to filter particles.

Reducing inhaled viral load would seemingly reduce the risk of a rapid virus progression. Getting a smaller dose of infection allows the body more time before the viral replication gets too big.
