John Wayne was 73 inches tall.
They tried to pretend he was taller later in is career but in one of his early movies the girl nicknamed him 73.

I got a $5 tip from him when I was the chef of the
Sternwheeler Restaurant on the Reuben E. Lee floating
riverboat restaurant in Newport Beach's Newport Harbor.

We were the same height, it seemed to me.
I was 73.5" tall, 18, and had somehow cooked him what he
told me was "the best steak he had had in years", without
even knowing that he was in the restaurant. I managed
to stutter to the manager that that was John Wayne, and
he, he, he tipped me!!!

He told me that the Duke eats there all the time.
(Little did I know.)

well 73 inches is 6 foot 1, and I’ve never heard anybody over six feet complain about being too short unless they want to play big time basketball. At 68 inches I think I’d like to kick any six footer in the shins for complaining about being too short.
