Once I talked to a high powered defense attny (not public defender) and this guy was so evil I couldn’t believe it. He boasted to me about how he got big time drug lords off all the time and had a big folder about it. There was a lot more, too. Also spoke to a public defender who was an utter drunken slimeball.

Who knows what he’s up to now, that was hmmm... in late 80s. He didn’t look more than late 30s or early 40s at that time. He had a spittoon and was chawing tobacco, had a $1000 suit on (at least, not that I would have a clue, I could tell it was way out of the ordinary), huge office suite with everything leather, and several female office females that looked like very high priced call girls.
The whole interview left me quite shaken.
