Given Durham’s inability to seat a grand jury with socialist distancing going on, perhaps he should indict WITHOUT GJ — if he’s got the evidence.

GJ is just CYA for the prosecutor, right?

I have no idea about the legal necessity or otherwise regarding GJ. I was on a GJ for a while, heard many cases, we met once a week for hmmm maybe 2 or3 months? decided wether to issue a True Bill or not, that determined whether the case would go forward or not. Seemed that the GJ was a necessary part to determine prosecution going forard. This is just a small rural county, so I don’t know...

Plus I remember reading (WHEN???WHERE???) that Durham WAS holding GJs despite the chinavirus. So I was surprised to read that he wasn’t...hmm....
