Heck, back then, when the Confederate flag was displayed, Dukes or no Dukes car, it was just a flag and a symbol.
I remember back then, 18-wheelers driving through the highways and streets of New York with huge Confederate flags on the truck grill -- no controversy, no outrage, none. It was just a flag.
It’s kind of hard to watch old Tom in that ad.

As a Southerner who watched that show when it was on.....that is not how we took it. Did it make fun of the South? Sure everything was exaggerated and a caricature but it was in good fun. It wasn’t mean spirited and the people were not portrayed as being hateful toward others.
We loved the Dukes of Hazzard. Then again, unlike those Puritans up in the Northeast, we actually have a sense of humor and can laugh at ourselves and have fun.
How could I forget that!
In the movie remake, they took off the flag.
They should have renamed it to The Generally.

On a related note, Confederate Motorcycles *quickly* changed their name to “Combat Motorcycles” and are offering a free “rebadging” to everyone who bought their bikes.
It made me sick to see them fold like a cheap tent.

Yep, it’s exactly as Morgan Freeman the actor said, racism only exists so long as people keep talking about it, bringing it up. 99.9999% of people in this country do not give a damn about what someones race is, and the ones who do usually it’s because they had a bad experience with one race which leans more towards prejudice than “racism”. The only TRUE racists I see today are these leftist who keep bringing it up day after day after day, because isn’t that what a racist is? Someone who consistently focuses on peoples race? The problem is nobody with any power or visibility tells them to F off because they are scared of this cancel culture where they will lose their career so these racists continue poisoning our country virtually unopposed.
[These guys must know they are already washed up in Hollywood, or they would never have made that statement.]
