This is either very good or very, very not good.

We were asking what was going on the other day and who would be replacing Dana Boente. (See the Judge Jeannine interview bit with LJ above and here's the data.) I don't know anything about him except what I am digging up. A few interesting facts including related to the EDNY. This is the law firm where Rosenstein returned to work earlier this year and where Sally Yates is from.

FBI Director Hires New Top Lawyer From Old Law Firm
July 17, 2020 2:49 pm ET

"FBI Director Christopher Wray has tapped a former law partner to be the bureau’s next top lawyer as he tries to steady the agency after a series of controversies."

"Jason Jones, a partner at law firm King & Spalding LLP will become the agency's next general counsel in August, Mr. Wray said in an internal letter reviewed by the Wall Street Journal."

(Why did the WSJ receive an internal letter?)

Jason A. Jones has joined law firm King & Spalding as a partner in its Washington, D.C., office. "The firm announced today that Jones has joined its Special Matters and Government Investigations practice."

"Jones joins King & Spalding from the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice, where he served as Assistant Chief of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act unit in the Fraud Section."

"He also served as senior counsel to the Assistant Attorney General of the Criminal Division. Previously, Jones served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Violent Crimes and Terrorism Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn."

US prosecutor returns to King & Spalding "King & Spalding continues the expansion of its special matters and government investigations practice with the hire of federal prosecutor Jason Jones as a partner in Washington, DC."

"He returns to firm after a nine-year stint at the Department of Justice (DoJ), where he was most recently a supervisor in the FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) unit. He also supervised the prosecution of a variety of large-scale corporate cases as an assistant US attorney, and served as chief of the violent crimes and terrorism section of the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.

Doesn’t sound good to me. I don’t care what Q said, I just haven’t ever trusted Wray—every time I have seen him I expect him hiss and start writhing on the floor like a snake in the grass.
