Sure there is. Von Neumann machines. These are basically AI controlled self-replicating robotic probes that carry with them the programming and genetic sequences of the originating civilization.
The mission, go out and colonize the galaxy, either by terraforming planets that are good enough, or, if the target planet already has life, by genetically tinkering with both the origin life and native life to produce a hybrid.
If the probes were sent out a hundred million years ago at subluminal speed, they would already have colonized a good chunk of the galaxy.
So, no, it wouldn't be a case of little flying saucers travelling all the way from the Pleides and back. They would be more like shuttles operating locally from ocean or subterranean bases to pilfer or plant whatever genetics they deem proper for purposes we don't fully grasp. They could have been here already for millions of years.
