Three gunmen fired at least 55 shots, killing a teenager and a young man and injuring two others at a Philadelphia playground and basketball court Wednesday night.
The 18-year-old, two 19-year-olds and the 21-year-old were all at Roberto Clemente Park along 18th and Wallace streets around 8:10 p.m. when three gunmen chased after at least one man, trapped him in the playground area and opened fire, police said. They then opened fire on the other young men.
More than 30 people were in the area at the time.
One 19-year-old man was shot once in the torso, 21-year-old Khalid Henderson -- who lived just blocks away -- was shot once in the torso, the second 19-year-old man was shot in the left leg and 18-year-old Jayden Lucas -- of the Rhawnhurst neighborhood -- was shot in the back, Philadelphia police said.
Henderson died at the scene while Lucas died a couple hours later that hospital. The 19-year-old who was shot in the torso was listed in critical condition while the other 19-year-old was listed in stable condition.
Police said they found 55 bullet casings in all at the scene.
One person who was found in a nearby car with a gun was taken into custody. The car was later towed away from the scene. Investigators are working to determine if that person was involved in the shooting and no charges were filed as of early Thursday.
There have 323 reported homicides in Philadelphia this year, up 32% from the same time last year and the highest total up to this point in more than 13 years.

I am sure that, going forward, defunding the police will fix this.

Send in the G-men. That’s what they did in the other Roaring Twenties when overwhelmed, intimidated, or complicit local authorities could not control gang violence on the streets of American cities.
Amish?.....large population in PA....and btw->defund the police and open the jails....
No reason mentioned. Just...Wednesday I guess.
They’re no Kyle Rittenhouse
I’ll comment as soon as my give a damn gets fixed.
Because if they weren’t such terrible losers they probably wouldn’t be mass shooters.
New Jack City. Great movie.
You must. You won’t come out of the woods long enough to have lunch LOL
I’m not as far out in the country as you are but I am damn glad I am in rural Kentucky also.
The Philadelphia Eagles have been involved in fighting against social injustice since early 2018, when they created the Eagles Social Justice Fund, helping Philadelphia citizens wrongfully accused. The fight against these injustices started long before this, with names like Malcolm Jenkins, Torrey Smith, and Chris Long, all standing up to use their platform to make a difference as individuals.
After the murder of George Floyd, Eagles have been one of the most vocal organizations in the NFL when it comes to spreading awareness and making a stand.
Why dont you go stand in one of the neighborhood basketball courts?
I suspect someone reloaded, someone else was shooting back, or fewer than 55 rounds were fired.
Aint no money to be made dissing the white man on the streets. We need those multiple capitalistic layers and feigned fear of the cops that still willfully protect them inside the stadium.
55 shots, three people shooting, and three hits is really not a mass shooting.
Hey man...
Doze boiz just bein black...
As long as daye singin new black nationale anthem, an howdin da marx symbol of da raize fist, blacks murder blacks is nutin butt culture.
Somebody had an extended magazine, reloaded or had two pistols.

Sig P226 9mm with 20 round magazine and one in the chamber = 21 rounds.
Three shooters x 21 rounds = 63 rounds.
You could even substitute two Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm with 17 round magazines and one in the chamber and still have 57 rounds available.
Still, it is more likely that one or more of the shooters had and used a second magazine.
