“You actually vote for the electors. If Zombie Biden carried the state but he was back in his crypt. The substitute Rat would get them.”

It actually depends upon the law of the state. Some states require that the electors vote for the person listed on the ballot. Others require that electors vote for the candidate that represents the party that won the vote. In the first case, a literal reading of the law would require that the votes would not count toward the replacement. In the second case, the votes would count toward anyone the party put forward as the candidate, including a replacement. Other states may have different requirements. The Constitution leaves it up to the state legislature to determine.

“The Electors are chosen by the states but a pledged to a particular candidate. The candidate does not select the Electors.”

In each state, each candidate submits a slate of electors to represent him/her. The slate of electors that are sent to the Electoral College is determined by the popular vote winner in that state.

“Some, but not all, states have laws requiring Electors to vote for who won their state. However, I believe those laws allow punishment for Electors who are ‘unfaithful’, but do not, in fact change the Electors’ votes.”

It depends upon the state. In some states, if an elector does not vote the way he is pledged to vote, he is immediately disqualified and replaced by an alternate (the slate of electors always has alternates in case of the death or disability of an elector).

“ Wasn’t there just a Supreme Court ruling on point — that faithless electors are illegal?”

Not quite. The ruling was that state laws that sanctioned faithless electors were not unconstitutional. Not all states have such laws.

Don’t cut in front of me in the vaccine line. I was negative yesterday (yay!) but you can’t stay lucky forever.

Plugs has no vim and vigor, he is a very tired and often confused old man. He sounds , looks, and moves like an 85 year old who belongs in a nursing home.

Contrast that with the visuals of Trump striding briskly in his great coat from AF1 to the stages at his rallies. Sometimes he has to wait for the Secret Service to catch up with him; when they do catch up, Trump sets the pace for SS agents half his age as they stride to keep up with him. It’s AWESOME! RSBN has captured these visuals beautifully as they cover the Trump rallies.

Trump is the proverbial force of nature.

The juxtaposition of him next to Sleepy Joe Biden at the debates is going to be a stunning contrast. If Joe shows up, that is.
