Although Aunt Nancy is third in line for president it would only go in effect if both president and Vice President couldn’t serve. There have been a few times when a VP has moved up to President that the VP slot was left unfilled. I haven’t researched this but Truman replacing FDR comes to mind. I don’t think the VP slot was filled in this instance till the next election.

Pelosi would not be VP. She has a better chance of being POTUS,at least for a time. With Biden gone Pelosi while next in line after Harris still remains Speaker. VP is replaced by the process of the 25th Amendment. No way Pelosi wins that.
However if the election is contested and the House and Senate refuse or are not able to certify the results by 1/20/21 then the Speaker becomes acting POTUS until results are certified.
Now here’s a weird part Root did not consider. The Speaker need not be a sitting member of the House. Can you say Pres Hillary Rodham Clinton.

As I understand it, electors can't vote for candidates when they're both from the same state. So a Harris/Pelosi ticket would forfeit the 55 electoral votes (as of 2020) from California. A ticket with both candidates from a smaller state with fewer EVs could run and win an election if the margin of victory was big enough anyway, assuming they still hit the 270 number.
Since this theorized switcheroo would occur after the 2020 election, that section of the Constitution would not come into play until the next time around, i.e., 2024.
I don't think it was by mistake. This was a planned and coordinated pair of "slips." The Democrats want their base to know that they will be voting for the first Woman President.
