You can’t shoot through the door when someone knocks on it and states they are the police.
You can, but it is a bad idea.
But it did not happen in this case, so it is sort of irrelevant in this discussion.
The officer who shot through the door is being charged with reckless endangerment, but that happened after the original exchange of gunfire, which was just inside the door (for the police).
