Did you never hear about national parties giving money to candidates of the same party? Yeah, they raise a lot of their own money, but a tremendous amount is doled out by the national parties...to those who toe the line. Regrettably, Sasse’s seat is important, so he cannot be cut off right now...but he should have to pay a price for this later. When you join a party, that has to mean something in terms of loyalty - or at least shutting the FU 3 weeks before an election.

Overall on a nationwide basis? Sure. But it’s usually a fraction of the total raised by successful candidates.

A national party that outraises the candidate himself has generally bet on a losing horse. Ben Sasse is a very capable candidate in NE. He’s just addicted to sabotaging fellow party members who are not like him, which will hold back his advancement to bigger and better things.
