'Sick to death of the backfiring!' Plague of insanely loud modified cars and bikes are keeping New Yorker's awake at night - as beleaguered city reels from year of COVID and unrest amid NYPD budget cutbacks
UK Daily Mail ^ | October 20, 2020 | Lauren Edmonds

New Yorkers are getting frustrated by extremely noisy vehicles with modified exhaust pipes that terrorize residents, with many slamming the NYPD's laissez faire response.

The obnoxious sound of revving car engines and the distinct gunshot-like 'pops' of vehicles without mufflers gradually inundated the city's five boroughs this summer - and residents have had enough.

'Cars and motorcycles are completely out of control now that the cops are nowhere to be seen and there's no traffic in Brooklyn,' one person vented on social media in June. 'It's really dangerous and scary.'

then they need to vote for the law and order candidate - Trump.

wihout anything like the law and order issues that have dominated the US for months, MSM knows what counts in France!

Violence puts French suburbs back on the political stage
Financial Times - 3 days ago
Violence puts French suburbs back on the political stage ... national stage, part of a fight for the law and order vote that is critical to the 2022 presidential race...

yet, FakeNewsMSM in the US has been desperately trying to push the idea Trump has lost the women’s vote in the suburbs!

Annelise Nielsen from Sky News Australia is in the US to cover the election. she bends over backwards to be objective. she has been travelling around the US, listening to the opinions of people.

listen from ***12m17s: Nielsen brings up suburban women voters...law and order is the issue, not covid, not the fear of Roe v. Wade being overturned. Unless Dems get enthusiastic about going out and voting, it could very well be a Trump victory.

I used to drive an F-600 for a construction company when I was a kid and I would turn the ignition off and back on to produce a huge bang...until I blew the muffler off. I was able to turn around and pick it up. I never did that again.

Yes there is a very good reason that good quality mufflers are required by law.

19 Oct: Metro UK: 350,000 referrals for cancer patients missed since March
by Dominic Yeatman
THE number of people dying at home from illnesses other than Covid-19 has rocketed since lockdown.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics for March to September reveal that almost 1,000 deaths are being recorded every week — up 26,000 on the same period last year.

Among the biggest killers are diabetes (up 86 per cent), Parkinson’s (79 per cent), prostate cancer (53 per cent), breast cancer (47 per cent) and bowel cancer (46 per cent). Deaths among women with dementia have jumped 75 per cent. Prof Karol Sikora, director of cancer care provider Rutherford Health, said it was time to ask ‘difficult questions to avoid even more unnecessary deaths’. The leading oncologist added: ‘Covid-19 kills… but so does lockdown.’

Fiona Carragher, of the Alzheimer’s Society and former deputy chief scientific officer of NHS England, blamed the ‘dreadful side-effects of lockdown’. She added: ‘Isolation, fear and suspension of health and social care services will have contributed to the catastrophic increase in people with dementia dying. We saw it in care homes and now we’re seeing the impact in the community.’

Another 80 coronavirus deaths were recorded yesterday...

The ONS figures reveal there were 27million fewer GP appointments between March and August than in the same period last year...
Meanwhile, latest government figures show there were 5,402 Covid-19 patients in hospital in England on Monday, up from 3,665 a week ago, while 528 were in ventilation beds, up from 426 seven days earlier.

Except that most of the cars on the road back had style and were modify-friendly. And were American. These days, cookie-cutter muffler-less rice rockets prevail.

Interesting post - although not related to automobile noise in NYC!

Could you re-post it on the Flubros and Flubras thread run by impimp? I was reading just this morning that the NIH in the UK has started a new campaign to keep people from going to the hospital for non-COVID things.

This isn’t a NYC problem, its a plague everywhere, city and country. It seems half of all cars young people drive have Illegal modified exhausts and the latest iteration are designed to rapid fire backfire which sounds like somebody doing a mag dump In front of your house. They should be illegal with massive fines-why should anyone have to hear some idiots ricer for 1500 feet in every direction? Why should thousands of people with jobs to go to be woken up 3 times a night by a-holes with a narcissist compulsion for attention? It’s the worst noise pollution for no reason. We actually moved from a “scenic rural enclave” in an urban area to the real country largely because of this. We’re on a dead end far from a Sideroad now but we still hear car noise and backfiring ( it’s just fainter). Normal stock cars pass by unnoticed, but the ricer plague is a permanent quality of life loss everywhere now.
