You likely know these verses from Revelation 16:18

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

I think everyone heretofore has always assumed they know what "count" means ...

Things may not be as they previously appeared! We have more than we know!

Let's go to the Greek:

Strongs G5585 - to count with pebbles, to compute, calculate, reckon to give one's vote by casting a pebble into the urn to decide by voting

Strongs G5584 - to manipulate, i.e. verify by contact; figuratively, to search for:—feel after, handle, touch.

Strongs G5586 - a pebble (as worn smooth by handling), i.e. (by implication, of use as a counter or ballot) a verdict (of acquittal) or ticket (of admission); a vote:—stone, voice.

And what about "beast"?

Strongs G2342 - a dangerous animal:—(venomous, wild) beast.

BUT GO TO THE NEXT LEVEL:

Strongs G2339 - a wild animal, as game); hunting, i.e. (figuratively) destruction:—trap.

NOTE: This passage in Revelation is the only place in the Bible where G2339 appears!
