A former Sri Lankan fisheries minister chomped on a raw fish at a Tuesday press conference as seafood sales in the nation have plummeted over coronavirus concerns.
“I am making an appeal to the people of this country to eat this fish. Don’t be afraid. You will not get infected by the coronavirus,” Dilip Wedaarachchi said before biting into the fish.
Last month, the Central Fish Market outside the nation’s capital, Colombo, was the site of a major coronavirus outbreak that led to thousands of countywide infections.

I believe the usual practice is to apply seasoning before chomping down on *anything*, let alone raw fish. But I guess Jackass even has a following in Sri Lanka.
According to Lynchberg legend, Thomas Jefferson was one of the first prominent people to advocate eating tomatoes.
Many folks considered this fruit to be poisonous at that time. In the mid-1770’s, Jefferson ate a tomato in front of a crowd - and he didn’t die! It is said a few ladies fainted from the shock. Some have debunked this story as popular myth.

I am certainly not an expert, but I can’t ever remember reading about a virus being communicable between a cold-blooded animal and humans.
So, I agree with the man.
But parasites are another thing entirely. I eat my fish cooked.
I still won’t eat a raw tomato.
The one's in supermarkets were bred for how they look, picked unripe, transported a long way, often gassed to make them look red. They are awful by design.
