I wrote to my senators and congress-criter -- along with the imbicile Markwayne Mullin in Oklahoma, about the need to investigate Ashli Babbitt's killing as the cold-blooded MURDER that it was. This was the response I received from Burr (which, you'll notice, doesn't address Ashli's killing at all):
Dear Mr. ...:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the unprecedented and deplorable violence at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. I appreciate hearing from you.
For nearly 250 years, our nation’s commitment to the peaceful transition of power has been the global standard for democracies young and old. Rather than living up to that tradition, America’s core principles were threatened by those seeking to forcibly stop our electoral process and overturn the results of a presidential election with which they disagreed.
These actions were not a defense of this country, but an attack on it.
I supported President Trump’s legal right to contest the election results through the courts, but the courts have now unanimously and overwhelmingly rejected these suits. No evidence of voter fraud has emerged that would warrant overturning the 2020 election.
The President bears responsibility for these events by promoting the unfounded conspiracy theories that have led to this point. It is past time to accept the will of American voters and to allow our nation to move forward. After the Capitol was cleared for reentry I joined my colleagues in fulfilling our constitutional duty and certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Again, thank you for contacting me. Should you have additional questions or comments, please do not hesitate to let me know or visit my website at http://burr.senate.gov.
Sincerely,
Richard Burr
United States Senator
Today, Representative Markwayne Mullin, R-OK stated on ABC News that, in reference to the Ashli Babbitt shooting: "the [police] lieutenant ... didn't have a choice at that time..." in shooting her. Ms. Babbitt, a veteran who served four tours of duty for our country -- sent there by the very representatives who vote in that building -- was plain and simply MURDERED. In cold blood. Ms. Babbitt was unarmed and surrounded at the time by Capitol Police. Unarmed trespassing and protest are NOT deadly force infractions. It is incumbent upon you and your colleagues to denounce this murder, and more importantly insist that the perpetrator is arrested and held responsible. To not do so would be a disgrace -- regardless of your politics or concerns about the Trump presidency.
I readily recognize your opinion and your frustration, BUT if you care about toning down rhetoric in America (especially by politicians), try not using words like imbecile and idiot when you are expressing your opinion.
You are exactly right. I am still waiting for any dems or anyone in the MSM to be outraged about the murder of Ashli Babbitt.
That letter was most likely written by a staffer long before you wrote your letter! I bet many other letter writers got a letter with the same verbiage.
I got the same form letter from that POS Burr. I replied to him saying I’m not at all surprised to see he too is a bought politician. And that I would never again vote for another Republican.
It looks to me like Senator Burr is in need of a new job.Votors of Oklahoma have a decision to make come next election.Hope they choose right.
“I readily recognize your opinion and your frustration, BUT if you care about toning down rhetoric in America (especially by politicians), try not using words like imbecile and idiot when you are expressing your opinion.”
Saying the truth is superior to saying nice things. Not saying the truth for fear of hurting people’s feelings is part of why this whole thing is as f’d as it is.
He is a corrupt POS!
I actually didn't say anything like that in my email to Burr or the others. The text of the email is in my first comment.
Burr is a RINO. My understanding is that he is not going for another term. I have doubts that a conservative can take his place as we are saddled with a Democrat governor and attorney general, and I foresee the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization coming to NC....
“Unfortunately, the good folks of OK have no say over a Senator from North Carolina.”
Yea!Your Right.My dumb error.Thanks for catching it.
Correct. It's far worse: The Confessions of Congressman X
