Yeah, I’ve heard reindeer sausage is good, and I don’t care which one it was pulling the sleigh. LOL! I can probably find some online, but it’s pricey as retail to begin with, plus then there’s the perishable packing, shipping, not knowing exactly how to cook it..........daunting.

It depends on what they have been eating. I don’t care for moose that had been eating alder. Those not eating alder are delicious. Slightly gamey, but awesome stuff. Caribou is my favorite.

A good place to order used to be 10th & M Lockers in Anchorage. They knew how to pack, ship, etc. Not sure if they’re still in business.

They are still in business. Alaska Sausage also has reindeer sausage (domestic caribou) along with other meats. I don’t know if Indian Valley meats is still around.

I live offa Hwy 14 not but a hop, skip and a jump over from you.

A spike buck got hit and killed right by my mailbox. Nobody took it.

I was down getting the mail a couple of days later, trying to figure what I was gonna do with it. I figured I’d rope a leg and drag it with my small tractor out into the woods.

A guy came by and asked me if it was my deer. I said Nope. He asked if he could have it. I was like, well, sir, it’s not mine so go ahead.

As I went through the individual pieces of mail he came back to me and said “I ain’t gonna eat it, I just want the hide.”

I was glad because the day before was warm, and the deer was getting bloated.

In Norway we would eat reindeer in upscale restaurants. It is actually what we call caribou. It is delicious anyway you cook it.

But horse, no. And I’d be disowned.

I had horse when living in France years ago. It used to be and may still be quite common.

You realize that not so long ago, a lot of horses in the US were sold at auction towards their last days of life to be shipped overseas for food. I'm pretty sure it is illegal now because of animal rights wackos.

Horse are meat, just like any other animal. I only have a hang up over one meat. That's dead dairy cows. There are a bunch of dairy farmers in my family. They sell their old, worn out diary cows at auction - often to McDonalds. I don't do fast food, well only very rarely. It is not good for you and I can't stand the commercialization, kids meals, and other crap that goes along with it. Give me a diner or mom and pop restaurant over fast food any day.
