I had recommended DuckDuckGo to my friend as a better search engine because supposedly it did not track you like Google did. But now I find out that DDG depends on an Amazon platform or something, and that it DOES store some of your information. Is there a better search engine that truly does not track you? I will relay any info garnered here to my friend, and possibly incorporate it myself. Thanks.
You are about to get slammed by the FR DuckDuckGo folks, heads up.
DDG depends on the Google database.
It’s a solid database. It’s the algorithm that is garbage
DuckDuckGo is about as good as it gets. If you are concerned about your privacy use a VPN (Virtual Private Network). They are dirt cheap these days... I have used NordVPN for the past several years. They typically have specials where the monthly expense is under $3 a month.

“Granville’s search engine, Yippy.com, is one of the only search engine sites on the web that absolutely does not track users and does not sell user data.”
I checked ddg a few days ago and it’s still not sold out.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) acts to host websites. They do not interfere with search engines.
AWS deplatformed Parler because of politics and it looks like Parler has a good case to kick AWS’s a$$.
But it has nothing to do with search engines. So you should be fine with ddg.
Another private search engine that is good is dogpile.com.
What about Dogpile?
I’m on Brave right now. Switched a year or two ago and I like it. Your mileage may vary.
I’ve been having a problem using a VPN. I work with a window open to Xfinity. I cannot stream with the VPN operating. Haven’t figured a way around that.
Start Page....I use them fantastic
Yippy.com
(was an article today on FR about it)
So one competitor claims that. Do any other disinterested parties back that up?
Depends on Google? So? Didn’t Parlor? That does not mean they are Amazon. its still better than using Google!
Don’t understand your question, what do you mean by ‘competitor’?
This one looks relatively new. I’ve only begun to use it.

There’s this one, too.

This is from GAB. Heard it’s very fast and doesn’t have cookies etc. no tracking. Haven’t tried it myself but I heard it’s great.
Brave is a Search Engine, not a Browser. Brave allows you to pick one of five Search Engines, including DuckDuckGo.
Brave is a partner of DuckDuckGo, so if you don’t like DuckDuckGo, maybe you won’t like Brave.
