I was home for Christmas break of my sophomore year in college when I caught Rush Limbaugh's appearance on Phil Donahue's daytime TV talk show. It marked the very first time I had ever seen Rush or heard his views. I was immediately impressed with him as I found myself shouting "YEESS!!" and pumping my fist in excitement after each and every single comment he made. I stood there in my kitchen with rapt attention watching Rush completely knock every single one of Donahue's leftist arguments out of the park, and I knew I had discovered a new hero. Finally, here was someone in the media who was articulating exactly what I was thinking!

That very night, I watched Rush Limbaugh: The TV Show for the very first time (which came on at like 1:00 AM in my market)! Within the next couple of days, I picked up his first best-selling book The Way Things Ought to Be. When I came back home for summer break in '93, I started tuning into his radio show daily and had been a devout loyal listener ever since.

Now, I feel like I've lost a lifelong friend with Rush's passing and I don't know how I'm ever going to fill the void that now exists between noon and 3 PM ET every weekday. He had been a part of my entire adult life.

Thank you, God, for loaning Rush's talent to us. You gave us a true American patriot.

Keep listening every day from noon to 3. We will still get to hear our wonderful friend, though perhaps not his actual voice every minute. He is still with us via the wonders of recordings.
