The US government has announced it will offer gender confirmation surgery for transgender veterans through its health care coverage for the first time.
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) secretary Denis McDonough announced the change at a Pride event in Florida.
He said it would allow veterans to go through the full process "with VA at their side".
Previously hormone therapy and mental health services were covered but not surgery.
Gender confirmation surgery, also known as sex reassignment surgery, covers a range of procedures which alter a person's anatomy to match their gender identity.

That probably means the military is about to employ a lot more lawyers then. These “Sex-Swap” surgeries are very complex, can take mulitple steps to complete over time, and effect each patient differently.
There is so much room for a ‘dissatisfied customer’, who will blame the military surgeon team for doing what they were asked to do. No surgery has a ‘Happiness Guaranteed!’ claimer on it. Watch how soon the post-op complaining begins.

I sure as heck won’t post it, but I saw a video of a trans whose “wound” was infected and the doctors had packed it with maggots to eat the dead flesh. Too horrible a sight for words, really.
Maybe that’s why the suicide rate is so high with them.

Service connected disability right? If they got their balls shot off in battle might be the cheaper way to go.
