Partial human remains, along with a backpack and notebook believed to belong to Brian Laundrie were discovered in Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park by the man's parents on Wednesd
Dental records confirm that the human remains recovered at the Florida environmental park are of Brian Laundrie, the FBI said on Thursday.
The partial human remains recovered at the Florida environmental park where Laundrie was last believed to have been a day ago were described as "skeletal," a North Port police spokesperson earlier had confirmed to News 4 Thursday.
Two senior law enforcement officials also tell NBC News that the apparent human remains discovered yesterday at the Carlton Reserve during the search for Laundrie include a portion of a human skull.
Forensic testing is ongoing but neither federal officials nor the local medical examiner have given any timetable as to when the remains will be identified, according to the two law enforcement sources.
The latest development Thursday comes after an attorney for the Laundrie family said the remains found at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park by parents Chris and Roberta the morning prior are likely those of the missing 23-year-old. Steven Bertolino said they'll await confirmation before commenting further.
"Under the circumstances as we know them, finding human remains in the preserve near a backpack and other gear belonging to Brian, it is highly probable that the remains are his," the attorney told News 4 late Wednesday.

When I was there in Ft. Lauderdale (Sunrise) in the 1970s, we would regularly smell the fires in the Everglades from lightning strikes. I lived about 5 miles from the edge of the Everglades. Now the upscale community of Weston is there.

I grew up in Sarasota county .
The month of Sept is a cake walk.
I ve had realtime find bodies month old in east county but it wasn’t in that bad of shape.
Most of my time in Florida was spent in Mayport where I was stationed ‘69-’71...I also contract worked in Orlando in 1982 for a year...That’s about it...
I agree .
Something does not make sense .
Absolutely! We visited the Myakka State Park a few years ago.
We parked and walked to a bridge over a small swampy lake. Observed seven alligators, and that was just the ones we could see. Two ladies were fishing, one from the bridge,
and one from the bank near the bridge. There was an alligator stalking the lady on the bank...it was about 20 feet away and the lady was sitting in a lawn chair, had one leg in a cast and crutches nearby.
We told her we were worried about her but she just said “I’m watching it”.
We left immediately because we couldn’t bear to watch.
When at Mayport, I loved to go to St. Augustine...Spent a lot of time at Flagler College Student Center....The girl/guy ratio at Flagler was about 5/1 then...For a sailor such as myself, it was a “target rich environment”...LOL...
Ha Ha Nas Jax for AEA School.Weekend runs to Flagler for “dating”
Yep...You know what I’m talkin’ bout!!!!!!
Yep...You know what I’m talkin’ bout!!!!!!
😂
Folks...Great talking with y’all...I’m heading to watch a little football and hit the sack...G’night, folks...
Partial skull, remains over wide swath. Swamp. Gators, bear, feral hogs, buzzards, giant mosquitos, no-see-ums, “maybe” a panther, maybe a python. No place to be without a working firearm, and someone to keep watch during shuteye.
Nighters! 😴
PM me for some insight
Disregard
That is quite a story! I may have nightmares…😳🐊
“...a portion of a human skull.”
That wording is significant. I guess they’ll tell us soon enough.
The reporting might be off .
Gators are odd . They would of dragged off the body to their hole .
Maybe the feral hogs . A huge pest .
Too busy for panthers .They not seen in Sarasota for a long time but Desoto county sometimes .
