Dental records confirm that the human remains recovered at the Florida environmental park are of Brian Laundrie, the FBI said on Thursday.
The partial human remains recovered at the Florida environmental park where Laundrie was last believed to have been a day ago were described as "skeletal," a North Port police spokesperson earlier had confirmed to News 4 Thursday.
Two senior law enforcement officials also tell NBC News that the apparent human remains discovered yesterday at the Carlton Reserve during the search for Laundrie include a portion of a human skull.
Forensic testing is ongoing but neither federal officials nor the local medical examiner have given any timetable as to when the remains will be identified, according to the two law enforcement sources.
The latest development Thursday comes after an attorney for the Laundrie family said the remains found at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park by parents Chris and Roberta the morning prior are likely those of the missing 23-year-old. Steven Bertolino said they'll await confirmation before commenting further.
"Under the circumstances as we know them, finding human remains in the preserve near a backpack and other gear belonging to Brian, it is highly probable that the remains are his," the attorney told News 4 late Wednesday.

Amen! The great mystery is how Mama & Papa Laundrie broke land speed records locating Brian's stuff in 30 minutes after several dozen federal, state, and local officials and the world's highest tech equipment couldn't find anything for a month.

Some years ago when our daughter was living in Philly I worried about her (of course). I asked her about safety. She said, walk along like you own the sidewalk and exude a don’t screw with me attitude. They know victim personality types and that’s what they go for.
