They should have had a bigger car. Who gets to ride in the back with the snake?

Other sources such as the UK Sun identify the location as Brazil and the snake as an anaconda. That would be more believable than what the NY Post has.

Sadly it looks like the snake was killed. Here is a video showing some large healthy anacondas swimming.

A quick read of the beginning of the article I see ...

“...measuring just 29 miles long and 16 miles wide...”

I said to myself ... WTH that thing could swallow whole towns!

Then I saw it was the size of the island.

Hardly a crane when the folks outside are almost as tall as the cab.

Big snake... yeah but not the largest.

Idiot “journalists” don’t know the difference between a crane and an excavator.

12 or 13 feet long, tops.
Almost surely a female.

Not unusual for Boas of that area.

Forced perspective; it’s thing.

Pythons are Old World. It would be a boa in the Caribbean, unless it’s an escaped exotic.

It says that boa constrictors can grow to 13 feet. It also says they don’t know what kind of snake it is. Doesn’t look like typical boa constrictor, Boa boa markings. It’s certainly not an Anaconda. Jamaican and Cuban boas have different markings than the typical boa constrictor.

Definitely looks like some kind of Boa locality, to me.

Alienware’s tech support is based in Costa Rica and the guys I’ve talked to [all wonderful] say that they are not allowed to own any native Boas, despite them being literally everywhere for the picking up and that the snake ownership laws are super strict everywhere in central America.

I can’t imagine how an old world python would even be there unless in a zoo or something.

Big girl, though but I’ve seen a bigger one, locally, in a reptile store.

Yeah. I’ve heard that I can’t have a Rubber Boa because they’re native. Haven’t researched it. We caught one when I was in elementary school, out by the playground.

It’s not like you’d have to announce that you grabbed one.

OMG, they have a derpy “defense system” much like the hopeless Ball Pythons

Rubber boas can be preyed upon by almost any reasonably sized predator in their habitat.
When threatened, rubber boas curl into a ball around their head, and expose their tail to mimic their head.
While this is thought to be a primary defense technique against predators, it is not effective against many predators
