I have an old Marantz 1030, circa 1974, that needs new caps..................…I think my brother still has his early 70's Marantz. I think my Onkyo bit the dust and had to be replaced with a Yamaha.

Go on Ebay and find a Marantz 2270 - rebuilt.

Consider an older plain analog amplifier. You don’t have to buy something with tubes.
You would have to forget class D in this case. But at the low power you need, that doesn’t matter.
Or, I think you can find a kit.
Finally, you could just build something from a schematic.
I will post specifics later if I get time.

I don’t know if you’re commenting on the name or the brand. The name is... funny, but they’re the real deal.

Thanks everyone. This info is a huge help. I’m sure I’ll be able to find something that will be great.

What type of music? Kenny G or Abba or Olivia Newton John?
Or heavy metal!

Look on Ebay, they have older, used high end stereos. I have purchased Adcom and NAD off Ebay with no issues.

I second the recommendation for Schiitt and Audio by Van Alstine products. Van Alstine is great but I don't know if he is producing any Class D amps.
Personally, I wanted to dive into Class D and found that a lot of high end amps (claiming to be USA made) are using IcePower amps in their product. Ice Power is a Danish company but my guess is they source their manufacturing in Asia (but I could be mistaken). I built 2 monoblock amps around the 500ASP module - found all the parts in kits online. Parts Express carries the IcePower amp in the USA. I am very happy with the sound.

If he’s got a few bucks, he can shop eBay or Audiogon for a Bel Canto integrated. Incredible sound.

Thanks for making this post, the reply is mostly to keep it for future reference.
I have to agree with others who recommend expanding your scope to outside the US; China’s economic hegemony is world-wide.
