The opinion of the author of the above treatise is that Benjamin Rush offered a quote in 1801 which has been embellished, expanded upon, and misattributed over the last 200 years to become what we read here in post 1080. I thought the sentiment was more relevant to our discussion than the precise attribution of the quote, some of which is unknowable.
