Jim Stafford - Cow Patti (1980)
Out On The YouTube ^ | Some random family

"Any Which Way You Can", the sequel to "Every Which Way But Loose", was a blockbuster hit starring Clint Eastwood way back in the year of 1980. Ronald Reagan was just elected President and John Lennon was shot over at the Dakota in New York City.

A newly sober Robert Ebert gushed "Where else, in the space of 115 minutes, can you find a country & western road picture with two fights, a bald motorcycle gang, the Mafia, a love story, a pickup truck, a tow truck, Fats Domino, a foul-mouthed octogenarian, an oversexed orangutan and a contest for the bare knuckle championship of the world?"

One of the stellar tracks from the soundtrack of this movie was Jim Stafford's "Cow Pattie", which got a lot of airplay on the Dr. Demento radio show.

Anyway, a few years back, the children from a random family some place in rural America put this song to video and the results are pretty amazing, considering that it was produced by a bunch of kids.

I hope they are doing well today.

Ditto and ditto.

Might have also been on Dr. Demento on Sunday nights, too. Or not.

IMO, the big hit from that movie was "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma". I still listen to that one quite often.

Yes, I first heard this song on Dr. Demento. I went to boot camp in February 1981 and leading up to that, I listened to the Demento show every Sunday night. So that song was running through my head in boot camp, along with “Roly Poly Fish Heads” and other Demento classics.

Odd little bit or trivia I once heard. ABD was once building up Jim Croce for a weekly TV variety and comedy show before his late 1973 death. They later gave that spot to Jim Stafford for a short run in 1975.

I loved the Eastwood movies also. Right turn Clyde.

Back in high school my friend Lisa’s mom dated Bill Smith, the actor that fought Clint Eastwood in that movie. He seemed like a good guy. Just found out recently that he also played Falconetti in Rich Man Poor Man.
