I've only got 33 year living here. . . One of the things that has always amazed me is the average German's ability to make decisions and problem solve. Some are great (read like an American) problem solvers but most need consensus.

I worked with my German engineering counterparts off and on for 20 years. On my first trip in 1986, I went out on the prototype floor and attached a starter relay to the bulkhead of the cab for discussion purposes and all hell broke loose. In the US, the CAD file was the official design document. For them it was the mockup. I could go on but I learned to not let them know when I was leaving so they had to get me involved up front instead of ignoring me until the last minute to make decisions. I loved the food.
