The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on Highway 1 Monday that ended with a driver falling into the ocean.
According to investigators, big wave surfer Darryl "Flea" Virostko was driving on Highway 1 when he was struck by another car driven by a 40-year-old Santa Cruz woman.
The unidentified woman reportedly got out of her vehicle, crossed the highway and walked toward the cliff overlooking the ocean before she fell into the ocean. Investigators don't know it was an accident or not.
The woman's body was recovered from the ocean by Coast Guard helicopter.
Btw, I’d guess it was suicide or she was on her phone to her attorney/insurance company, and got too close to the edge in an unfamiliar pull off area. More likely suicide.
LOL
Totally
True but it’d be like calling the 101 “Ventura Freeway” up here without getting a lot of confused looks.
“Flea” got some “splainin” to do.
Diane Thomas, the screenwriter for Romancing the Stone, died in an accident on PCH.
Btw, I hate to break it to you, but a good portion of PCH, or, Cabrillo Hwy for the tourist out there, is located in S. CA.☺
"It wasn't heroin it was angel dust PCP and I never touched it."
Only for the tourist...
Sure, ya got to be a real heroin junky or smoking angel dust to think PCH and Cabrillo Hwy are somehow actually the same highway. How absurd is that??
☺

Drugs. Probably prescribed.
Do you recognize that curve? I can’t find it around Davenport up to Pigeon Point. It doesn’t appear that there are cliffs in that area, so she didn’t fall off a cliff.
Yes. Same for boxers who get knocked out and don’t know where they are and continue fighting. I believe that’s why so many people act irrationally sometimes after a car accident; fleeing, attacking police, etc.
OK, now I see. I was wondering why Publisher's Clearing House was killing people.
Different Flea. Same circus (California).
I bet if ya called it PCH up there, no one would have clue where they were and would likely cause mass confusion.☺
“It’s called just Highway 1 or the Cabrillo Highway here in NorCal.”
Years ago it was sometimes called “Blood Alley.”

Living in that area I can say confidently NOONE calls it PCH in that area. I’d always just refer to Highway 1. It appears that PCH is a name sanctioned in the south only. I wish this article were clearer, but this appears to be correct

I bet. Beautiful scenery but treacherous driving conditions.
Years ago, I ran the Big Sur Marathon from Big Sur to Carmel. That was the most scenic marathon I have ever got to experience. I can’t imagine anything that might top it.
Solid Darwin Award nominee.
