NEW YORK - Cheslie Kryst, the winner of the 2019 Miss USA pageant, has reportedly died after jumping from a building in Midtown Manhattan.

According to TMZ, the NYPD responded to a 9-1-1 call at Kryst's apartment building on 42nd Street at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Upon arrival, police found the 30-year-old lawyer and host on the entertainment news show "Extra" dead at the scene.

Police say they believe Kryst, who lived on the building's 9th floor, jumped to her death.

Early Sunday morning, Kryst had posted a photo of herself to Instagram with the caption, "May this day bring you rest and peace."

"In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie," Kryst's family said in a statement. "Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined. Cheslie embodied love and served others

God to live in New York, not only does one have to be arrested for not wearing a mask, but also have to watch out for bodies to fall out of the sky.

Have no idea what her problem was, but I do pray for her soul.

Thank you for posting. This is so sad. From her essay in Allure on turning 30:

“To be fair, I didn’t spring from the womb, sword in hand, to fight the good fight and I am certainly not exempting myself from belonging to the go-with-the-flow crowd on occasion. I remember being enamored by “20 under 20” and “30 under 30” lists that tied achievement to youth and called it success — lists that are surely intended to recognize the rarity of accomplishing outstanding feats at a young age. But they had an unfortunate side effect on some young people, who felt encouraged to hoard accomplishments as fast as possible in order to measure up to our peers.

…I discovered that the world’s most important question, especially when asked repeatedly and answered frankly, is: why? Why earn more achievements just to collect another win? Why pursue another plaque or medal or line item on my resume if it’s for vanity’s sake, rather than out of passion? Why work so hard to capture the dreams I’ve been taught by society to want when I continue to only find emptiness?”

Suicide almost always sad. No one knows the demons until too late. Permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Prayers for her and her family’s loss.

What despair.

That’s a life without Christ. Nothing to live for.

Sounds Covid related to me. Or had she gotten crosswise with one of the Clintons?

Sounds like serious depression to me - and/or drugs.

So...Christians never suicide themselves right? Christians are immune to depression and mental illness?

Her Instagram icon is a black power fist.
I only skimmed the top of her instagram photos - they appear to be mostly self-centered-selfies in vain hope to finally get a photo she likes.
Vain and shallow?
My condolences to the family.

I think Faith in general helps us through lots of difficulty - it doesn’t matter if it’s Christian faith or some other kind; as long as it’s faith in powers and possibilities greater than our mere selves.

I’ve often felt very bad for people who see no hope beyond the material constraints with which they feel themselves bound.

“No one knows the demons until too late.”

So many instances of smiling photos and “normal” behavior around friends and family the day of with a note already written and the decision a simple matter of following through.

...sadly

I wouldn’t go that far. There are timers my physical life Is hard. Chronic physical pain supersedes my from my spiritual life in brief in instances but I don’t think it brings suicide thought but do wish for a better life with Jesus.

Next time I hit a low, maybe I will ask for your approval of my choices. God already knows my choices. He knows all.

Yep, there is a peace in thinking soon all of their problems will be "over".

Life in this body and on this earth is hard enough as it is. Without faith, honestly i don’t know how some people keep going. Jesus himself was called to suffer and die on a cross.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (Gospel of St. John)

“ After this, Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth. He said: “May the day of my birth perish,
and the night that said, ‘A boy is conceived!’ (Book of Job)

“ I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.” | “I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.“ (St. Paul)

Years ago, I had a fundamentalist Christian neighbor who said that ‘television is the devil’.

I guess she hadn’t assessed the devilish internet, yet.

However unpleasant to ask, it is necessary to inquire if this young woman was altering her brain chemistry with marijuana, alcohol or other drugs both prescribed or illegal. The headlines regarding these tragedies are usually all the public ever learns. There is usually much more to the story sometimes very hard to hear or very politically incorrect. BTW suicide among African American women, despite all, is relatively uncommon.
