"Gold Dust Woman" was written and sung by Stevie Nicks. The take chosen for release on the 1977 Rumours album was reportedly recorded at 4 a.m., after a long night of attempts in the studio. Just before and during the final take, Stevie Nicks had wrapped her head (though not mouth) with a black scarf, veiling her senses to tap memories and emotions. Many unusual instruments were used in the recording, including an electric harpsichord with a jet phaser, which was marked with tape so Mick Fleetwood could play the right notes. To accentuate Nicks's vocals, Fleetwood broke sheets of glass.
When asked about the song in an interview in October 1997, Nicks confirmed that "gold dust" was in fact a metaphor for cocaine.

I find, generally, that a more advisable (and, around broken glass, safer) way to tap memories and emotions, with or without a jet phaser, is to simply set my beeber to stune.

I just bought a vintage Rumors today, in exclelnt condition...still has the plastic on it.
I remember the first time I heard it, at a after-work party I attended after a particularly miserable day collecting overdue bills for the phone company. UGH. Worst job I ever had.

They said they wrote their best music when they were all messed up on drugs but they fought with each other all the time 🤪

Stevie Nicks is probably my third favorite female singer, right behind Emmylou and Linda.
It's weird seeing a picture of her in her heyday in which she is younger than my own children today. Getting old.
For the obsessed Stevie Nicks fans, here is Stevie and the band getting off an airplane in Dallas in 1978, doing a quick interview with a nerdy guy, and then driving off in a limo.

Ann Wilson for me (at least in the 70s, not so much the 80s stuff)
