"Once a Day" is a song written by Bill Anderson and recorded as the debut single by American country artist Connie Smith. Released in August 1964, it was the first debut single by a female artist to reach number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs. It remained number one for eight consecutive weeks, a record for a female solo artist for nearly 50 years, until it was surpassed by Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" in December 2012.

I was listening to The Dave Clark Five, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones in 1964.

We took long family trips through the midwest and west in the early and mid 60s to visit relatives. Our Bonneville had no cassette player, no FM radio and no AC. Just a plain old AM radio. When we hit Oklahoma, dad always played songs like this and we kids groaned.

She’s a real sweetie. I love her version of “Seattle”.

But you got to ride in a '60s Bonneville! I groaned when my father played the Liza Minelli and Frank Sinatra 8-Tracks in the '72 Impala, but now that I have matured, my tastes have broadened to appreciate the non-Rock music of that era and earlier.

My tastes have broadened just like you say. There was so much good music in that era.

I learned to drive in that Land Yacht! After that, I could drive anything.

I learned partly on the similarly sized '72 Impala, but switched off with a "Three on the Tree" '68 Dart with manual everything (including washer fluid). Great contrasts, and both were GREAT cars.

A friend of mine had one right after we got out of high school around 1978, at the height of the second energy crisis. Cost a fortune to keep the tank filled.

Yup. Those 400 ci V-8 engines do NOT age gracefully. At the end, it was getting 9 mpg.
