My wife is a master falconer. Oddly, she had to take firearms safety classes to get the hunting license to hunt with her bird. That resulted in substantial acquisition of firearms too. She started hunting with the birds before cell phones were affordable or viable in the field. That lead to getting a ham license for field comms. Her communication skills were so go that the San Diego Sheriff's Dept recruited her to work as a dispatcher. Being a full time dispatcher left insufficient time to be a falconer. She did train two apprentices that progressed to become master falconers, so the art was passed on.
