Looking for the statistical breakdown of gun deaths ie over half are suicides ... do you have the link?
I recall a breakdown child deaths adult deaths etc.
Cannot find on internet
This is for 2020:
https://injuryfacts.nsc.org/home-and-community/safety-topics/guns/data-details/
It also links to the detailed CDC study.
I searched your “statistical breakdown of gun deaths” and a bunch of articles came up
https://www.rd.com/article/gun-violence-statistics/
Actually this article and chart broke down who died
Surprising small amounts of children .
Mostly criminals killing each other
There are no "72 million gun owners".
Gun owners are not registered in the United States.
There are various estimates of gun ownership. 72 million is on the low end. 150 milion is on the high end.
About half the households in the United States have guns in them.
The correct comparison of guns to cars would be accidents which occur with guns to accidents which occur with cars.
I am missing Switzerland there.
By law, every Swiss male, adult citizen has to have a gun in his house for purpose of being ready for war.
That makes also Switzerland the country with largest gun suicide rate.
US was second in gun suicide rate, but overall the US suicide rate is not that big.
In summary, having an availability of gun make gun a preferable choice for person who decided to kill himself.
If there is not gun around, that person uses different tools.
Taking away the guns will not change the suicide rate at all!
It has been several years since I saw the research, but it’s probably still true that more children die in backyard swimming pools than from gun accidents.
Right now, we have a drug overdose crisis.
Fentanyl kills more people than guns and cars together!
And young people are the most of the victims.
But nobody cares.
If the politician really cared, they would start there!
Also, Japan has a very high suicide rate, higher than that of the US, but also has very strict gun control laws (it’s basically illegal for a civilian to own a gun there).
Just saw the other day that drowning is the leading cause of death in children under the age of 4 or 5
According to the link in post #2...
“Gun-related assault deaths outnumber suicide deaths in the 5-14, 15-24, 25-34, and 35-44 age groups. (
Hello, Barbarian!!
It’s been a VERY long time.
Hope all is well.
Oh, yes. there are many, many countries with suicide rate a lot larger than the US. Hungary is the perennial suicide rate leader.
Lumping gun suicides with murders and calling them all gun violence is a trick the anti gun lobby uses all the time.
These are the people O’Biden is bring into our nation by the tens of thousands.. Maybe even MORE then that.. :(

Oh, it really looks like Brandon is importing murder rates!
I had a Hispanic associate who grew up in LA. He mentioned he head shots daily over there.
I have never heard shot in my neighborhood.
Here are some suicide facts from it:
Fact: For every accidental death (802), suicide (16,869) or homicide (11,348)90 with a firearm (29,019), 13 lives (390,000) are preserved through defensive use.
Fact: 61% of these deaths are suicides459 (80% in Canada460). Numerous studies have shown that the presence or absence of a firearm does not change the overall (i.e., gun plus non-gun) suicide rate. This 30,000 number also includes justifiable homicides (self-defense) and accidents.
Fact: The rate of suicide is not affected by the presence of a firearm. This is true in either a timeseries analysis (like the chart at right showing the change in handgun supply in the U.S. over time),476 or through cross-national analysis. For example, Japan has no private handgun ownership (aside from an extremely limited number of licensed Olympic sport shooters), and yet had a suicide rate more than twice that of the United States in 2002.
Do a search on child gun deaths.
The thing about such searches is that a flood of left wing propaganda and lies inundate the searcher. It’s hard to find honest reports. It’s mostly garbage.
Hey Roccus! It has been a long time, hope you are also well. I’m fine, just retired as a matter of fact.
Although I quit posting here, have still lurked nearly every day.
Thanks for the shout out!
