Federal regulators made a key decision on SpaceX's plans to launch its gargantuan Mars rocket, called Starship, into orbit from Texas — saying Monday that, as long as the company complies with 75 "mitigating actions," the rocket launches should clear federal standards for environmental impact.
The list of actions includes enlisting a "qualified biologist" to monitor the impact on local wildlife; warning the public ahead of launches about the loud sonic booms and possible dangers; and agreeing to clean up any shrapnel from the launches in "sensitive habitats." The company also has to agree to not launch on major holidays and a limited number of weekends so that the public can maintain access to a nearby beach.
Federal Aviation Administration's announcement was that it determined SpaceX's launch plans "would not significantly affect the quality of the human environment." As a result, the agency isn't requiring a more thorough review that could further hamstring the company's plans.
The environmental review approval, however, doesn't guarantee that the FAA will give SpaceX a launch license, which will involve a safety and risk assessment. That's still under review.

He’d best not forget the 10% for the BIG GUY.
I lived in FL during the space shuttle years and at 3-4 AM, no warning helps with those sonic booms.
Adult: Gee, upchuck, what have you always wanted to be when you're grown up?
upchuck: I've always wanted to be a Federal regulator. Nice office, big desk, brown leather swivel chair. Sounds like heaven to me.
Good thing there was no EPA during World War 11.
The WH communists are teaching Musk a lesson...
It isn’t over yet...
Not until he understands that the First Amendment does not apply to him...
A qualified biologist?
Sounds like they need to figure out if someone’s a woman.
“Hmmm... sounds like the “Federal regulators” are deliberately slow-walking this one. But why?”
Numerous reasons. Musk is NOT woke. Musk’s businesses are NOT union shops. Musk has openly criticized this administration and its woke policies.
Musk pulled Tesla’s HQ out of California and openly criticized the state’s anti-business environment.
SpaceX is humiliating well-established, well-connected UNION companies, Boeing and L-M who were awarded development money for their failing space program which dwarfed the development money given to SpaceX, etc...
Musk is building the same things in Cape Canaveral ,LOL
Just seventy five regulatory bribes? Obviously the Biden clan hasn’t had time to shake down the space industry yet?
upchuck: “I’ve always wanted to be a Federal regulator. AND I succeed with a one-word vocabulary: ‘NO!!’”
I lived in Santa Barbara years ago when the shuttle flew over the California coastline heading for a landing on the dry lake beds of Edwards Air Force base.
It was a double sonic boom early in the morning....maybe 6 or 7 AM. My sister thought it was an earthquake!
Thanks for the good reasons. Now the slow walking makes more sense.
LOL!

Memo. How To Be Biden Federal Regulator
1. Get donor’s money.
2. Approve regulation and application and loan. Forget taxes owed.
3. If no donor’s money to “The Big Guy”, deny application, lose forms, add taxes, investigate taxes, arrest for Congressional Inquisition (er, Inquiry) under oath to frame a perjury charge.
They keep it up, I bet another country would be glad to serve as a launch site.
