Musk is no idiot, but this doesn’t require a PHD in economics to figure it out.
Here’s the simple cost benefit analysis:
1) Q: Does this person/position make me money or cost me money?
If yes, keep. If no, terminate

Another trend pushed by the youngsters is the use of the word, than, to say that one thing in a non-mathematical context is different from another. Than implies a quantifier that is missing in such sentences (more, etc.). “Duh, he’s more different than the other guy.”
Another yet... “She ran him over.” I ask, “She ran him over what? Oh, the moron is trying to say that she ran over him! She didn’t run him over the top of something else.”
