Prediction: Don't be surprised if this becomes a trend in industry in the future.
The slant of the author is obvious. Reading the comments, its a fun game to guess the generational cohort of the individual. Its also obvious who most likely to me who is among the slackers you find in every large company.
Sooner or later, companies tend to remember why they exist, or cease to exist.

Darnit. I don’t want to buy a Tesla because I don’t support the global warming lie. But Musk might force me to buy one just to support the liberal tears a flowing.

Tesla has laid off both the president of its LGBTQ+ community and a lead involved in diversity and inclusivity programs Why were they hired in the first place?

Sources also told Electrek about a software engineer that was also let go by Tesla last week. They had been working at Tesla for four years – most recently as senior software engineer in charge of naming conventions in Tesla’s vehicle UI team
Full stop. This is not a job for a "senior software engineer". This is a *task* for an intern. I've seen some crazy startups (I've been writing software for 30+ years) - if you're spending anything close to 2000 hours a year working on this, you're doing something wrong. Continue to clean house, Musk.

Good. They exist to make a product or produce a service and pay their shareholders. “Woke” does neither.

This kinda reminds me of myself...
I had the skill, knowledge and experience in the area that the company I worked for needed.
But I didn’t play the political games management expected.
I was labeled an outcast.
But I was also unfireable...
I had a ball exposing the idiots for who they were, and got no retribution for my efforts.
Those who tried to retaliate against me found themselves unemployed very quickly.
I could tell you unbelievable stories of my life in woke corporate America, but I will leave with this nugget, from a movie from long ago...
A strange game Professor Falken.. the only way to win, is to not play at all...

Given the recent post regarding one of his adult sons going trans on him, perhaps this may be Musk’s response to that crap.

This is good.
I bet Musk’s son “transitioning” and estranging himself from his father hit home. (Probably Musk didn’t simply accept his new daughter and instead suggested therapy, while the son’s mother likely accepted the “transitioning”.)

Their LGBTQ?#$%! community has a president. They are a sub-community within the corporation with its own leadership structure. Let that sink in.

Even if one is OK with gay stuff, why exactly does *any* big corporation need a gay community organizer on staff? But most of the biggies have them.
More going on here than minding your own business about sodomy.

Musk is no idiot, but this doesn’t require a PHD in economics to figure it out.
Here’s the simple cost benefit analysis:
1) Q: Does this person/position make me money or cost me money?
If yes, keep. If no, terminate
