Even if a cloth or surgical mask is covering the nose and mouth, it doesn’t stop the variants. At least the N95 folks are trying.
And the N95 masks do nothing to stop the virus from the next most likely access vector, your eyes.
There are some things you just cannot escape no matter how hard you try. Isolation for the duration is the only good alternative to escape infection, but that is an extreme that most people can’t achieve for one reason or another.
