China fired its most direct warning shot yet amid reports that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may visit Taiwan on Friday, saying that if the speaker's plane is accompanied by U.S. fighter jets, they would not rule out shooting them down.

Earlier China warned the U.S. against crossing a 'red line' as it released not-so-subtle warnings against the speaker, which China has reasoned is number three in line in U.S. government, from visiting Taiwan.
The U.S. must be prepared to 'bear all consequences' if Pelosi chooses to visit Taiwan, Chinese foreign minister Zhao Lijian said in a briefing Friday.
National Security Spokesman John Kirby said Friday the Pentagon has seen no indication of a military threat.
'We just don't have any concrete indications of something happening from a military perspective on the Chinese part,' Kirby said.
'There's no reason for it to come to come to blows, to come to increased physical tension. There's no reason for that because there's been no change in American policy,' he added.

No they did quiet a lot - they confirmed Biden’s contracts and agreements, discussed the timing and terns of turning over the US energy grid to the CCP and whether or not there would be the usual 10% fee.
As for any open hostility, Xi assured Biden that, since he was running for a third term, all had to go smoothly and lots dead troops would not play well with an already restless populace.

This should be a multi-national, bi-partisan trip. Can Nanzi Peelousy take pResident XiJinBiden with her? How about McTurtle? It would be good if Trudeau and Freeland joined her on the trip. Macron, Rutte, Merkel and numerous others should join her on the trip. Announce it to the ChiComs and pull the AF back, as she and that entourage heads into Taiwan air space.
In reality, I would not be surprised if the ChiComs DID shoot the plane down. XiJinBiden has reduced/drained the strategic oil reserve, destroyed the military and seems to, like True-dolt in Canaduh have done EVERYTHING to destroy his country. With a likely sweep in the mid-terms by Republicans, America is possibly at its lowest.

I think you're right about this. My colleague who just escaped China, after living there for 4 years, was just telling me this morning that their economy is crashing hard. Provincial governments are essentially bankrupt. They're forced to spend huge amounts of money on Covid testing, and they've lost their primary source of funding: Leasing of land and property. NO ONE is buying new property because everyone can see that the excessively high value is crumbling.
Xi needs a major distraction... and, what better than Taiwan to whip up national fervor? I wouldn't even be shocked if Xi directed Biden/Pelosi to announce her trip just to set up this confrontation. I sort of hope that is what's happening. Because, the alternative is.... they mean it, and they're ready to go.
