I watched Episodes One and Two and see two main problems,
On one hand they are very average. Lazy even.
On the other hand, the series is not actual Tolkien but more of a reboot. And not a very good one.

Tolkein is part of European culture. What Amazon has done is cultural appropriation that serves to dilute or erase European culture. Those of us with European roots are apparently not allowed to have a unique culture.

The ads sure look woke. I won’t watch Tolkein be ruined. The Hobbit movies were as horrifc as I ever want to see and as bad as the LoTR movie trilogy was bad. I love the book The Hobbit and I was really looking forward seeing it completely done well in a 6 hour movie trilogy. Instead I got a mindless CGI video game.
Hollywood can’t make a good movie today.

There used to be a time, not so long ago, when we could enjoy movies and TV shows and video games without a constant barrage of politically charged opinions, angry click-hungry YouTube videos and massive, charged debates on social media and forums. In other words, a time before us "normals" noticed the garbage being shoved in our faces.
