The problems with someone lie Nostradamus is
  1. even if some of his prophecies come true, you don't know if you trust anything he has prophesied.
  2. consulting mediums can cause the Lord to turn his face from you. See the scriptures below

In the New Testament, Acts 16, Paul casts out a "spirit of divination" that had possessed a slave girl. The town got mad because the town was getting rich of the girl. So apparently the girl's powers were real. But the spirit was against Paul.

King Saul also consulted a medium and while the Lord allowed Samuel to answer him with a rebuke for consulting a medium, it was listed among the reasons for Saul's death.

Nostradamus claimed to have a spirit guide. There is no indication that the spirit was sent from the Lord. Which means Nostradamus was violating God's law by consulting with the spirit.

    Leviticus 19:31 ESV
“Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.

    Leviticus 20:27 ESV
“A man or a woman who is a medium or a necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones; their blood shall be upon them.”

    Leviticus 20:6 ESV
“If a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.

    Isaiah 8:19 ESV
And when they say to you, “Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter,” should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?

    Deuteronomy 18:10-12
There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.

    1 Chronicles 10:13-14 ESV
So Saul died for his breach of faith. He broke faith with the Lord in that he did not keep the command of the Lord, and also consulted a medium, seeking guidance. He did not seek guidance from the Lord. Therefore the Lord put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.

    2 Kings 21:6 ESV
And he burned his son as an offering and used fortune-telling and omens and dealt with mediums and with necromancers. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger.

I do agree with your comments. But I believe I can passively and retroactively react to Nostradamus' 9/11 prediction and say WOW!!! (which I do believe was a solid "hit" despite the two-year disparity) without violating the Lord's commands. On the near miss for the year, Nostradamus did say that dates in his mind were "blurry", and 911 and 99 can get juxtaposed in any number of ways.

I have no doubt that some folks like Nostradamus have some ‘insights’... after all, the evil spirit world that is always hovering unseen in the background has been there since the Garden of Eden and to underestimate them by appealing to them for guidance is to do so at one’s extreme peril. This verse from the first chapter of Job says much about the hidden world of evil spirits.... Job 1:7 “And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.”

Bottom line is that Satan and his host of fallen angels are everywhere 24 hours a day and have witnessed history from the beginning of life on earth... of course they know essentially everything (except what God has chosen to not let them know) and while they don’t know the future, they are in a position to at least partially shape the future by having mankind fall for their lies. This is made crystal clear in 2 Corinthians 4:4 “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

As for what to expect is coming, these verses that record Jesus on the Mount of Olives were the first thing mentioned when the disciples asked what the sign will be of His return... Matthew 24:3 “And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”

Bottom line is that it might appear like Nostradamus got some things right.... but God’s Word is always right.
