Kathy Hochul! Please, think of the criminals! They won't be able to work for days! Please, help them. They are your core constituency, you need to help them.

I suppose singing Let It Snow Let It Snow Let It Snow might be in bad taste.

I live in Ithaca in Upstate NY, fortunately far enough away from Buffalo that this storm probably won't bother us here... and I know Buffalo gets a ton of snow at times.

But 6 feet???

I have a hunch it'll be more like 2-1/2 to 3 feet. Maybe less now that they moved the Bills/Browns game to Detroit because of the forecast. God has a sense of humor.

If Buffalo were to free over and disappear, the world would be better for it. Its a useless nest of Demo rats. BTW the Dems don’t allow fracking or new pipelines to be built in New York. They just might freeze over. Adios.

It was heinous for a while but cleared up. But it’s lightning and thundering again. So far we got about 4 inches just outside of Buffalo. HOchul is here being a PITA.

There have been reports of thundersnow today.

I was talking to a relative this evening when the LR lit up and the thunder sounded right behind it. She said it was very impressive.

“thundersnow”

Oh, puh-leeze! It’s a big lake effect storm. It happens. It’s happened before. It’ll happen again. It’s what lakes and cold air do. We don’t need yet another stupid name for a snowstorm.

I was in Fayetteville, NY for the big January 1966 lake-effect blizzard. Having Dad send you out to shovel four feet of snow was no picnic. Mom & Dad ran out of cigs and my sister and I had to trudge to the entrance to our subdivision to pick up cigs from Dad’s friend. They were bad off without the coffin nails. Fortunately, they both quit and neither got lung cancer. But it didn’t matter much because Parkinson’s and Dementia got them in the end.

How many can take a snowstorm and turn it into dementia?

They always exaggerate the forecasts. I bet Buffalo doesn't have more than 2 feet after all is said and done.

Anyway, the lake effect snow is quite the phenomonon. Cold air blows across the relatively warm Great Lakes and creates moisture that is then dumped as relentless snow squalls on the leeward side. You don't need an actual storm. Just cold wind and warm water.

Buffalo is best known for the 1977 snow event. But that wasn't actually lake effect snow as the lakes were already frozen at that point. What they got was existing snow blown at them that was already sitting on the frozen lake. Plus a little bit from the sky too.
